today i am going to be looking at one of Razers gaming keyboards. the Razer Deathstalker
i will be looking at build quality, and features to see how good of a gaming keyboard it is
Affiliate Link: You can find all three keyboards here!
there is three version for this keyboard, each sells at a different price:
the cheapest of the three keyboards is the standard Razer deathstalker.
this version has no back-light which makes does make it hard to see the letters at times. however it has all the other features of the backlight version.
Razer Deathstalker Backlight
this is the version of the Razer Deathstalker i currently use.
i recommend this version due to not costing a fortune, while still having a back light to see what your typing a night.
over all i feel that this is the classic of the three keyboards when it comes to gaming.
Razer Deathstalker Croma
the Razer Deathstalker Croma version is the premium version of the Razer Deathstalker keyboards.
this keyboard puts on a brilliant light show with the back-light, that Razer products are known for.
the back light can shine all colors or the RBG scale, this allows you to change the backlight to any color.
you even have the back light transition from one color to the next.
the back light settings can be changed through the Razor Synapse program,
there is nothing i can type that does this feature Justice, its something you must for your self.
like most keyboards the Razer Deathstalker has 2 pegs on the bottom side to adjust the keyboards angle.
the Arm Rest is a glossy mesh that comes attached to the bottom of the keyboard.
some may have a problem with it being attached, however it makes typing on the keyboard very comfortable when gaming for hours.
The keys are slim and can somewhat remind you of the keys on a laptop,
This is a benefit for Gaming:
because of this the keys are very responsive, easier to clean, and their is little worry about pushing the wrong key.
the Razer Deathstalker is also perfect for content creators, who need a quiet keyboard.
I find the Back light in the Razer Deathstalker to be all around one of the best features of this keyboard.
the backlight enables you to see the Keys even during late night gaming sessions, making it perfect for people who must look at the keys when typing.
The brightness can be modified or by holding the FN key next to the Right Alt key and holding F11 or F12
Deathstalker Croma backlight
Through the Razor Synapse program their is Four Back light options:
- Static: This option allows you to choose a single color of backlight for your keyboard
- Spectrum cycling: Backlight will slowly cycle through the RGB color spectrum
- Breathing: the backlight will fade between two colors or your choice
- Wave: the backlight will cycle through the RGB color spectrum in a rainbow wave
Through the Razor Synapse program The Razer DeathStalker is fully programmable, allowing you to set Macros and set Keybinding
The Backlights in the croma Version of the can also be modified through this program
i will be making a full review and tutorial of Razer Synapse program later.
By Toggling the FN key and F10:
- Maximizes the effect of anti-Ghosting
- this will also disable the windows key,
- Disables the Alt+Tab combo, and Alt+F4 combo
this insures that your gaming does not accidentally get interrupted, while also optimizing your gaming experience.
By Pushing the FN Key and F11:
This combo allows you to quickly set Macros.
- it starts recording by pressing FN+F9
- Type the combo you want the macro to do
- press FN+F9 to stop Recording or ESC to cancel
- then press the key you want to active the combo
Things To Conciser
compared to other gaming keyboards by Razer the the build quality is abit on the cheap side and dose bend abit under of pressure.
however its not that noticeable and even thought its on the cheap side,
the Razer Deathstalker is built to last, and as long as you do not abuse this keyboard, it will lasts for many, many years.
Conclusion and my experience
i got the Backlight version of the Razer Deathstalker many years ago.
and have used it through out my gaming career. its one of the best keyboards i have used so far
and even during this review i learned alot more about what this keyboard can do.
in the beginning i thought that the Croma version was a wast of money due its price tag compared to added features
and my thoughts have change a lot from first writing this article.
i still feel that the Standard version is not worth buying due to being in the price range of the backlight version
and if you can afford the Croma version, then i truly envy you. but if you can’t afford it, then i recommend the backlight version.
